For the second year, we were asked to write the copy for an online school prospectus for their Year 8 Options programme. The copy would include a full description of their courses written specifically for their Year 8 students and parents. The language had to be engaging and interesting for 12/13 year olds while being informative and accurate. Read the following case study and find out what we did.
|Company:||Secondary Comprehensive School|
|Client:||Wishes to remain anonymous|
|Description:||Comprehensive school for 11-16 year olds|
|Issue:||Wishes to provide its Year 8 students and their parents with both an online and prospectus for choosing their optional subjects for the next three years at school.|
Write all content for the prospectus – descriptors for every subject and incidental pages e.g. welcome, help, instructions, option blocks. We were also asked to provide a layout design.
|What we did:||
We researched every subject on offer at the school from contacting examining boards to speaking to subject teachers in order to write the contents of the prospectus. We also looked at our target audience, 12-13 year old boys and girls, and their parents; the school ethnicity demographic; the style and type of language to use for the prospectus to be effectively received.
We provided subject descriptors that included two sections, ‘in brief’ and ‘in full covering the following areas:
We also wrote the introduction to the prospectus, help pages on how to use the prospectus and how to apply for courses.
